Psychotherapy provides a place in which one can safely express and strengthen emotional responses. It helps people take charge of their lives and deal with daily problems. In therapy we feel less alone, less victimized and more able to cope with life. We discover the ability to express ourselves creatively and confidently. Therapy is useful when it becomes apparent that something prevents us from living satisfying lives.

Our past strongly influences our present and how we interpret life’s events. Past experience shapes how we feel about ourselves, the way we relate to others, and how we respond to both new and familiar situations.

While we cannot change our history, we can explore how our responses to the past limit our experiences in the present. Psychotherapy can help free us of old patterns and help us develop new, more flexible responses to contemporary situations. By listening to our dreams, to our attitudes and responses which are not always fully conscious we can recognize influences on our thinking and feeling and begin to remedy the things that trouble us.

It is important that you find a therapist who suits your individual needs. During our first meeting you will have an opportunity to discuss your particular concerns and circumstances, and together we can decide whether we will work well together.
